The Hearty Boys, aka Dan and Steve, got their starts not in culinary school, but in New York as actors, trying to pay their bills. This meant quite literally rolling up their sleeves and working in all aspects of the food business. They learned how to set up outdoor bars and buffets at the U.S. Open. At the French Embassy, they trained how to set an exquisite formal table, and when they worked luncheons at the United Nations, they became versed in treating guests royally. Along the way, they soaked up all sorts of knowlege, earning them the title of "accidental experts," who went so far as to beat out 10,000 entrants to become "The Next Food Network Star(s)" on the first show of that series in 2005 which resulted in "Party Line with The Hearty Boys" weekly cooking show. The duo opened their first restaurant in Chicago, "HB", and topped their success off with the birth of their son, Nate. Five years ago, "Talk With Your Mouth Full," their first cookbook, was published, and "The New Old Bar: Classic Cocktails and Salty Snacks from The Hearty Boys" was recently published. Their restaurant, "Hearty," won OpenTable.coms "Diners Choice" awards in 2011 and 2012. **One free book will be given to a live listener who is registered and signed in to chat!** http://heartyboys.com/ WINE CURMUDGEON, JEFF SIEGEL will be back on the show to talk about Holiday wines. Jeff is always helpful and well-versed in affordable and very drinkable wines. Read Jeffs blog at http://www.winecurmudgeon.com/
